Hospitality consists of a broad group of three business sectors: accommodations, food & beverage and travel & tourism. In Costa Rica in 2016, more than 2.9 million international arrivals were registered for a growth of almost 14% over 2015. Competitive advantages include a strategic geographical position, investment opportunities throughout the country, the quality and variety of the tourist product, the natural attractions, the presence of important international companies, and the warmth, experience and human talent of the people. Tourist organizations are actively positioning and promoting the country in the high growth segments of ‘wellness travel’ and ‘experiential/adventure travel’. More tourists result in more visitors who want to spend some or all of their time here, adding additional demand to the strong local residential real estate market.
